FLORESCENCE

Florescence invites us to consider the vital role flowers play in maintaining the natural balance of our environment and embodies the joy of colour.

 

The word, florescence, refers to the period of flowering, the period when plants entice pollinators with the colours of petals attracting the insects essential for maintaining biodiversity in our fragile ecosystem.

Series of photographs which capture white light travelling through the petal of a flower. Pure colour images of flowers seen growing in the UK from early spring to late autumn. Petals collected from gardens, from local parks or seen creeping over a garden wall in 2025 and 2026.
