CALCULATED CONSTRUCTION 2014
This project follows on from Reflective Construction and attempts to convey the gutsy joyful drama of the smash. Showing myself this time, as the performer throwing the hammer and running away from the point where construction turns to destruction.
I created large sculptures of glass with the sole intent to capture that moment of the inevitable, joyful smash and destruction with the medium of photography in one still image
During a residency at North Lands Glass, funded by the Royal Scottish Academy, I learned specialist glass-blowing techniques and using my newly-acquired skills, I created organic shapes out of glass which reflected light from every angle. These photographs are shot using the dusk light of the dramatic Caithness sky as a backdrop.
